Creating KPIs to analyze portfolio costs

KPIs provide a quick glance at certain critical metrics, which enable the Portfolio or Project Managers to identify irregularities and take decisions to resolve these issues. For example, if the actual project costs have exceeded the planned costs, the Portfolio Manager can investigate and understand the reasons for additional costs and take corrective measures.

You should log in to Digital.ai Intelligence Applications and perform the following steps in the ITPA_Portfolio iCube of the PPA solution:

  1. From the right panel, click the KPI widget visualization type.
  2. From the DATASETS panel, drag the Project Planned Cost metric into the Editor panel.
  3. Click the Insert visualization icon from the toolbar to insert a blank visualization.
  4. Perform step 2 to create KPIs for Project Actual Cost and Benefits Target metrics.
  5. Optional: To set thresholds for the KPIs, perform the following steps:
    1. Click the required KPI and click the Properties panel.
    2. Select Threshold Settings from the drop-down list.
    3. Select the required number of threshold range, and specify the From and To values and color for the Color Range.

Tip: To rename the visualization title, click the Visualization drop-down icon in the visualization title bar and then click Rename.
