Utilization

The PPA Utilization dashboard allows Resource Managers to monitor various aspects of resource and capacity utilization across departments and locations and for a specific month. This dashboard helps Resource Managers to view the utilization of resources and to view trends in project utilization of a resource.

This dashboard helps Resource Managers to answer the following questions:

What is the average hourly rate I'm being charged for the resources used?
How are the different employee types such as Full Time Employees (FTE), contractors, Part Time Employees (PTE) etc. placed in terms of utilization? Are certain employee types overworked or underutilized as compared to others?
How do I analyze utilization with respect to allocated hours and actual hours logged by a resource?
What percentage of resources are being underutilized with respect to their capacity? How do different Resource Managers fare with respect to the overall Capacity Utilization % of their resources?
What are the causes of under or over-utilization of resources with respect to their capacity?

This dashboard consists of the following sections:

Utilization by Emp. Type: This section consists of a horizontal bar graph showing the Capacity Utilization % for each type of employment. Each bar in this graph represents an employment type. On selecting a bar, the information displayed in all other sections of this dashboard are filtered to the corresponding employment type.
Utilization by Resource Manager: This section consists of a horizontal bar graph showing the Capacity Utilization % for all resources under a Resource Manager. Each bar in this graph represents a Resource Manager and is colored based on the Capacity Utilization % of the resources under this Resource Manager.
On selecting a bar in this section, information displayed in the Utilization by Resource, Weekly Trend of Project Utilization, Weekly Trend of Actual Effort Vs Effort Variance, and Resource Details sections are filtered to resources reporting to the corresponding Resource Manager.
Utilization by Resource: This section displays a bubble graph showing the Project Utilization %, Capacity Utilization %, and the Average hourly rate for each resource.
Weekly Trend of Project Utilization: This section displays line graph showing the week-on-week trend of project utilization for all selected resources.
Weekly Trend of Actual Effort Vs Effort Variance: This section displays a combination of line and vertical bar graphs where each line displays a week-on-week trend of Effort Variance for the selected resources and the vertical bars represent the Resource Actual Hours for the selected resources.
Resource Details: This section displays a table containing additional details about selected resources such as the employment type, primary role, average hourly rate, project utilization, capacity utilization, resource actual hours, resource allocated hours, and capacity hours.

Project Utilization %	Percentage of actual hours logged by a resource as compared to their allocated hours	([Resource Actual Hours] / [Resource Allocated Hours])	0 or >0, closer to 100% is ideal
No. of Resources	Count of all resources across projects	Max [No. of Resources]	0 or >0
Resource Actual Hours	Amount of actual project work logged by the resource using timesheets	Sum (Resource Actual Hours)	0 or >0, greater than 0 is ideal
