Analyzing Fixed Work Items

Let us look at a simple scenario to understand how you can use the Work Item Fixed Version iCube to analyze your work items.

Ram is a Project Manager involved in planning and execution of multiple projects.

As a Project Manager, Ram wants to find out how many bugs and, what kind of bugs have been dealt with in a particular fixed version. Analyzing the kind of bugs and finding a pattern in the kind of bugs that have been addressed in a particular version helps in doing root cause analysis.

Generating report

To analyze the work items fixed in a particular version, Ram has to login to N360™ and perform the following tasks in the Work Item Fix Version iCube of Create Lens:

1. From the GALLERY panel, select the desired visualization type.
   In this example, Bar Chart has been used.
2. From the DATASETS panel,
   1. Drag the Fix Version attribute into the Rows field of the EDITOR.
   2. Drag the Work Item Count metric into the Columns field.
   3. Drag the Priority attribute into the Color By field.
   4. Drag the Priority attribute into the Break field and select Stacked.
3. In the FILTER tab of the EDITOR
   1. Drag and drop the Fix Version and select the versions for which you want to generate a report

Using the report, the Project Manager can do the following:

• Analyze the number of critical and non-critical work items addressed in a particular version
• Perform root cause analysis on what went well and factors that did not go well in a particular version
