The Program Increment dashboard provides insights on various parameters that can be used to gauge your organization's performance with respect to software development in the Scaled Agile Framework. The insights provided in this dashboard can equip Business Leaders to identify gaps in their software development process, which help them take remedial actions to improve development.
As a Program Manager or Scrum Master, you can use this dashboard and find answers to some of the following business scenarios:
The Program Increment dashboard consists of the following chapters:
Both the chapters in this dashboard are built using the PI Overview Capability iCube and fetches data based on the filter specified for this iCube. Refer to the respective iCube topic for more details about the filter.
Further, you can use the drop-down in this dashboard to select a Program Increment and view the related data.
Note: Program Increment dashboard supports Agility source system.
The Solution PI Overview chapter helps Engineering Managers view and monitor a Program Increment using the work items created under it, in the software development. The Solution PI Overview chapter focuses on providing insights, such as the total number of work items, percentage of completed work items, time span of work items added, burn up chart, status and type of work items under each planning level, and so on.
This chapter consists of the following sections:
Note: RAG has threshold values applied based on percentage distribution, to visually denote values that indicate poor grade. The following lists provide their default threshold values, and the colors that signify each threshold range.
Displays a grid that provides information about various type Epics created under a Program Increment to help you analyze how the team is performing with respect to PI completion.
Note: Primary work items such as Stories, Defects and Test Sets are considered but not secondary work items such as Test and Task.
The information in this report is driven by the Overview panel and by any Program Increment selection made from the drop-down.
Displays a bar graph that represents the trend of work items created based on the duration. The bar graphs are categorized based on the stages, which help you gauge at which stage are the work items added to the Program Increment and the planning level of the Program Increment.
The stages are configurable and predefined Program Increment duration group categorized based on work items added before the start date, after the end date, and 0-20%, 20-40%, 40-60%, 60-80%, 80-100% of the PI duration.
For example, for a given PI duration the graph provides information on work items added before or after the start date of a Program Increment, number of work items, and the type of work item.
The information in this report is driven by the Overview panel and by any Program Increment selection made from the drop-down.
Displays a cumulative burnup chart which helps you track the progress contributing to a software release using the format of a scaled agile "burn up chart." The burnup chart provides information on Program Increment about the cumulative number of work items created, the total number of work items created, and the total number of work items completed on a specific date contributing to a software release.
The blue portion represents the cumulative number of work items created and the total number of work items created on a specific date.
The red line represents the cumulative number of work items completed and the total number of work items completed on a specific date.
The information in this report is driven by the Overview panel and by any Program Increment selection made from the drop-down.
Displays detailed information about work items under a planning level. This grid provides information on the number of work items segregated based on the task and the type under each planning level that helps you track the work items.
For example, a work item under 'epic' type and 'in progress' status on completion will switch to 'epic' type and 'completed' status.
The information in this report is driven by the Overview panel and by any Program Increment selection made from the drop-down.
