Allocation

The PPA Allocation dashboard allows a Resource Manager to analyze the allocation of resources across departments and geographical locations.

The Resource Manager can view an overall summary of the allocation of a resource based on two perspectives:

Project allocation of a resource calculated based on the requested or planned hours by the Project Manager and allocated hours approved by the Resource Manager.
Resource allocation which compares allocated hours to the capacity of a resource.

Using these perspectives, a Resource Manager can view the allocation based on the Project Manager's resource requests and resource's capacity. Other key questions that this dashboard answers are:

What percentage of resources are not allocated to any projects? How do different Resource Managers perform with respect to this metric?
What is the net available capacity of resources after removing all the allocated effort?
What is cost associated with allocations?
What is the allocation pattern for different roles?
What is the week-on-week trend of allocated and actual hours for a resource?

This dashboard consists of the following sections:

Unallocated Resources by Resource Manager: This report can be used to analyze percentage of unallocated resources under different Resource Managers. Each rectangle in this heat map represents a Resource Manager and the size of each rectangle is based on the total number of resources under the corresponding Resource Manager. The color of each rectangle is based on the percentage of resources not allocated. You can hover over each rectangle to view the exact number of unallocated resources, and percentage of resources left unallocated.
Note: The data displayed in the remaining sections of the dashboard are based on the Resource Managers selected in this section.
Allocation by Month: This section displays a combination bar graph that helps you view month-wise break up of the Resource Allocation % metric and percentage of unallocated resources.
Allocation by Role: This section provides a tabular view of allocation by role. The Resource Manager can view a list of primary roles, resources associated with each role, Resource Allocation %, Project Allocation %, Resource Actual Hours, Resource Allocated Hours, Resource Planned Effort (Hours), and Capacity Hours metrics.
To view the role-wise breakup of allocation for a specific month, select a bar from the bar graph in the Allocation by Month section.
Resource Level Weekly Trend: This section displays a vertical bar graph showing the weekly trend of Resource Allocated Hours across different projects.
To view the weekly trend for a specific month, select a bar from the Resource Allocation % bar graph in the Allocation by Month section.
To view the weekly trend for a specific resource, select a resource from the Allocation by Role section.
